The Élégance range: accessible Silvadec composite
Create a terrace that reflects your style. Silvadec Élégance monoextruded composite decking boards are available in three distinct finishes — grooved, smooth, textured — offered in the same colors and available in two widths. Each finish suits a different aesthetic preference; together, they can be freely combined to create bespoke terraces that are unique and long-lasting.
Made in France using a patented monoextrusion process, they capture the charm of wood while removing its constraints. Guaranteed for 25 years, they are suitable for both residential terraces and the most demanding public spaces.
Within the Silvadec range, Élégance boards are the entry-level option: they deliver all the essential qualities of Silvadec composite at a more accessible price point than the Atmosphère and Nuances ranges, which use coextrusion technology to provide an additional protective layer and greater color stability from the moment they are installed.
The qualities of the monoextruded Élégance board
Through-colored: lasting color, natural evolution
The monoextrusion process ensures a uniform color throughout the board. Unlike solid wood, which inevitably fades and turns grey, Élégance boards do not grey and retain their color over time.
Like all monoextruded boards, Élégance boards undergo a temporary bronzing effect during the first weeks after installation: a slight yellowing that is perfectly natural, linked to the absence of an external protective layer (unlike the coextruded Atmosphère and Nuances ranges). This effect gradually disappears under the combined action of sunlight and weather, and the boards return to their original color.
In semi-sheltered or sheltered areas, the process takes longer and should be assisted by brushing with water.
Rot-resistant and untreated
Made from two-thirds French wood flour and one-third polymer, Élégance boards are impermeable to moisture uptake. They are resistant to frost, humidity, and mold. No chemical treatment is required, either during installation or throughout their service life.
A simple annual cleaning with a brush and soapy water is enough to keep your terrace in perfect condition.
Certified slip resistance
All Élégance boards deliver very good slip resistance performance, in accordance with current standards. They are suitable for all residential and professional uses, whether barefoot or shod.
Solid board: all the freedom of solid wood
Solid boards (not hollow) can be worked exactly like a solid wood plank: ripping, planing, drilling, curved installation. This versatility makes it possible to integrate complex features — stairs, recessed lights, curved edges — with no constraints.
A responsible approach: circular composite
At the end of their life, Élégance boards are collected and recycled at the Arzal site to produce new composite boards. A concrete commitment to the circular economy, in line with ISO 14001 certification and PEFC labeling.
Three finishes, the same high standards
Whatever finish you choose, you benefit from the same technical foundation. What changes is the surface look — and with it, the atmosphere of your terrace.
Grooved — The safe choice
Its timeless grooved surface and invisible fixings make it the flagship model of the Élégance range. The grooved board offers an authentic, instantly recognizable look that stands the test of time without ever looking dated.
It offers very good slip resistance, whether barefoot or shod, as well as good resistance to everyday impacts such as moving furniture or repeated foot traffic. Thanks to the monoextrusion process, it is just as easy to work as solid wood: sanding in case of scratches, curved cuts, or complex shapes.
The grooved board is suitable for both residential terraces and public-access spaces: composite decking, café and restaurant terraces, walkways, pool areas, marina pontoons.
- Invisible fixings
- Very good slip resistance (barefoot and shod)
- Resistance to everyday impacts
- Curved cuts and free-form shapes
- Suitable for public-access buildings and high-traffic areas
Smooth Elegance deck board Iroise grey, 138mm
Smooth — Contemporary design
Simplicity, elegance, and clean lines: the smooth board embodies contemporary aesthetics. Its clean, even surface gives it great versatility: it blends naturally with the other finishes in the Élégance range to create original compositions.
Alternate widths — 138 and 180 mm — or mix smooth and grooved boards to define living spaces, create a unique pattern, or play with volumes. The freedom of composition is complete.
Awarded an excellent slip-resistance rating, it is ideal for barefoot use: splinter-free, soft to the touch, and reassuring.
- Chic, clean lines, contemporary aesthetics
- Freedom of composition: mix of widths (138 / 180 mm) and finishes
- Excellent slip-resistance rating
- Ideal for barefoot use (splinter-free, soft to the touch)

Grooved — The spirit of wood
The grooved deck board recreates the ribbed patterns of natural wood for an authentic and warm appearance. Even better: its surface gradually develops a natural patina, becoming smoother and more natural over the seasons. The full wood experience, without any of its constraints.
Particularly recommended for pool surrounds, the grooved deck board is comfortable under bare feet and perfectly resistant to chlorine, salt, and pool maintenance products. Around pool areas, we recommend choosing lighter shades (Colorado Brown, Exotic Brown), whose surface temperature in direct sunlight remains comparable to that of an exotic wood deck.
- Grooved surface inspired by natural wood grain
- Natural and gradual patina over time
- Comfortable under bare feet — excellent grip
- Resistant to chlorine, salt, and pool treatment products
- Ideal for pool surrounds, pathways, and natural-style terraces

Suitable applications
Residential terraces
Elegance deck boards are the natural choice for designing a house or apartment terrace. Their refined appearance, rich range of colours, and the ability to combine different finishes allow you to create an outdoor space that reflects your style — durable and maintenance-free.
Public spaces and commercial environments
The grooved finish is particularly recommended for high-traffic areas: composite decking platforms, café and restaurant terraces, pedestrian walkways, pontoons and marinas, and public swimming pool areas. It combines certified slip resistance with outstanding durability against intensive daily use.
Pool decks and surrounds
The structured finish is ideal around swimming pools: comfortable under bare feet, it resists chlorine, salt, and all common maintenance products. For maximum comfort in direct sunlight, lighter shades (Colorado Brown or Exotic Brown) are recommended.
Creative and mixed-layout projects
The smooth finish excels in mixed compositions. Alternate board widths (138 and 180 mm), combine different finishes, and define usage areas with contrasting colour strips. The Elegance range gives you complete freedom to create a truly distinctive outdoor design.

Frequently Asked Questions — Composite Decking & Elegance Finishes
Is grooved composite decking as durable as exotic hardwood decking?
Yes — and in several ways, it performs even better. A solid grooved composite deck board offers mechanical resistance comparable to ipé or teak, without requiring any chemical treatment and with a 25-year warranty.
Exotic hardwoods (ipé, teak, cumaru) are renowned for their hardness and natural durability. Grooved composite decking matches them on all these points — while eliminating their maintenance constraints.
Strength and durability
- Solid board (not hollow): load capacity up to 500 kg/m² (uniformly distributed load)
- Rot-proof: resistant to frost, moisture, and mould — without treatment
- Does not turn grey: colour is through-coloured and homogeneous throughout the board
- 25-year warranty — lifespan comparable to maintained exotic hardwood, without maintenance costs
What the grooved finish adds
- Grooved surface: excellent slip resistance barefoot or with shoes, resistant to everyday impacts
- Hidden fasteners: refined appearance with no visible screws
- Can be worked like wood: ripping, drilling, curved cuts possible
What grooved composite eliminates
- No annual treatment required (oil, stain, saturator) — unlike exotic hardwoods that require maintenance once or twice a year
- No splinter risk
- 100 % recyclable at end of life (Silvadec Recompose-it programme)
Which composite decking finish looks most like natural wood?
The structured finish. Its textured grain reproduces the patterns of natural wood, while its surface gradually develops a patina over time, becoming smoother and more natural season after season — a controlled ageing process that enhances the wood effect without its drawbacks.
Structured finish — The strongest wood effect
- Textured surface inspired by the grain and veins of natural wood
- Surface gradually softens and develops a patina over time for a more natural appearance
- Colorado Brown and Exotic Brown shades visually resemble untreated ipé or teak
- Ideal for those seeking the appearance of wood without the maintenance commitment
Grooved finish — The timeless option
- Parallel grooves reminiscent of traditional timber decking
- Recognised and timeless appearance often associated with exotic hardwood terraces
- Good impact resistance — similar to dense hardwood behaviour
Smooth finish — The most contemporary
- Flat and minimalist surface, visually further from solid wood
- Ideal for modern, minimalist, or Scandinavian-inspired projects
- Freedom to combine widths (138 and 180 mm) or finishes
In all cases, the colour is through-coloured: it does not fade like oiled wood and does not turn grey like untreated timber.
Are smooth composite deck boards slippery in the rain?
No — provided you choose certified composite decking. Silvadec Elegance smooth boards achieve excellent slip-resistance ratings in compliance with current standards, both barefoot and with shoes, even in wet conditions.
Why smooth composite decking provides slip resistance
- The composite texture (wood fibres + polymer) naturally creates a micro-texture invisible to the eye but effective in use
- The surface does not become slippery like soap when wet, unlike some woods or outdoor tiles
- Slip-resistance tests are carried out under wet conditions — this is the standard reference framework
Comparison with other materials
- Wet solid wood: slippery, especially with moss or algae
- Outdoor tiles: variable slip resistance, often insufficient barefoot
- Silvadec smooth composite: certified slip resistance compliant with standards, ideal barefoot
Installation recommendations for higher-risk areas
- Maintain regular spacing between boards to facilitate water drainage
- Clean the terrace at least once a year to prevent the accumulation of organic deposits
- For enhanced safety requirements (children, elderly people), choose grooved or structured finishes, or compatible anti-slip inserts
Can different widths and finishes be combined on the same composite terrace?
Yes — and this is one of the major advantages of composite decking compared to solid wood. The three Elegance finishes (grooved, smooth, structured) share the same colours and dimensions, allowing them to be freely combined on the same terrace without colour mismatch or technical constraints.
What you can combine
- 138 mm and 180 mm widths in matching colours — to create visual rhythm or define areas
- Smooth and grooved finishes — to create patterns or visual separation between terrace and pathway
- Structured finish around the pool with smooth or grooved decking on the main terrace — without colour discontinuity
Layout examples
- Alternating 138 / 180 mm boards: graphic and modern appearance that enhances large spaces
- Grooved border around a smooth terrace: defines the area and improves edge grip
- Structured finish around the pool, smooth finish on the terrace: colour consistency with two distinct uses
All Elegance boards use the same installation system (hidden clips, composite or aluminium joists) and the same finishing accessories. There are no technical restrictions when mixing finishes — only aesthetic choices.
Can a solid composite deck board be cut and sanded like wood?
Yes — a solid composite board can be worked exactly like solid timber. It can be cut, ripped, drilled, planed, and lightly sanded in case of superficial scratches using standard woodworking tools. This versatility is specific to solid boards: hollow boards do not allow the same operations.
What can be done with a solid composite board
- Rip cutting: to adapt to space constraints or create custom-width boards
- Angled or curved cuts: ideal for rounded terraces, pool surrounds, or island layouts
- Drilling: for recessed lighting, anchoring systems, or irrigation equipment
- Planing: to adjust thickness or align thresholds
- Sanding: for superficial scratches, always brush or sand in the longitudinal direction to restore a uniform appearance
Difference compared to hollow boards
- Hollow boards cannot be sanded effectively because the surface layer is thin and wears quickly
- Drilling hollow boards creates cavities that may retain moisture
- Rip cutting is possible, but hollow edges are less aesthetically pleasing to finish
Precautions when working with composite
- Use saw blades designed for composite materials (fine carbide teeth)
- Sand only in the longitudinal direction — never across the fibres
- After end cuts, install matching end caps or edge finishes
This flexibility makes it possible to integrate stairs, cuts around posts, or complex curved shapes — designs that are difficult to achieve with hollow decking boards.
